FUNKTION CARS
WIN DC SCCA SOLO
On Sunday, July
15th, the Washington DC region SCCA Solo drivers were
met with an excellent course on the hilly expansive
Fed-Ex Field F-Lot and very hot temperatures. The course
featured flowing blend of tight sweepers, slaloms,
decreasing radius turns, varying road camber, and flat
out acceleration along with top level competition. In
some sections the course rewarded patient smooth
driving, and in other areas, flat-out aggression.
FUNKTION AUTO drivers took the win in two of the largest
and fastest classes at the fourth points round of the
2007 Washington DC Region SCCA Solo Championship.
In Street Modified:
one of the loudest, fastest, and varied classes, Steve
Pilkerton in his B18C powered 93' Civic sedan managed to
find time against Brian Karwan's K20 Type R powered 94'
Civic and Rich Johnston's 04' Mitsubishi Evo RS. It was
an extremely close battle to the final four runs. In
Street Touring Ultra: the fastest class that requires
true street tires, Scott Blair drifted his 95' M3 to
edge out Mike Neary in his 06' Mitsubishi Evo, and David
MacDougalls's 06' Evo RS. Scott also took the STU win in
the Northeast Divisional SCCA Solo in Warminster the
week prior.
